Hours

This is an hourly position with the potential of up to 40 hours in the peak season (May - October).

Requirements

  • Prior waitstaff or customer service experience in a restaurant, hotel or country club setting is preferred but not required. We will provide training.
  • Weekend availability required; as well as some holidays; year-round availability is preferred.
  • Professional, outgoing and friendly demeanor.
  • Comfortable interacting with customers and co-workers.
  • Ability to learn and obtain new information in a fast-paced setting.
  • Reliable transportation.

Position Details

  • Greet and appropriately direct guests upon arrival to event
  • Responsible for serving, clearing, and/or replenishing food items during cocktail hour
  • Serve and clear dinner courses in a team setting
  • Reset ballroom for following function(s)
  • Minor cleaning before/after events

Built in 2004, The Waterview is a large, upscale banquet facility located in Fairfield County, CT.
We have been hosting weddings and other elegant events for 10 years. Our kitchen facilities are modern, spacious, and well equipped.
We have an opening for an experienced Cake Decorator to join our Pastry Department. Our bakery is a busy place, so ideal applicants must have experience working in a high-volume bakery. In this role, you must be able to cut, fill, ice and decorate a cake quickly and efficiently, and finish showcase cakes in a consistent manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; culinary certificates or education preferred but not required
  • Hands-on experience in a commercial bakery creating intricate cake designs
  • Solid math skills and the ability to use fractions to mix icing
  • Attention to detail evidenced by experience creating uniform, intricate designs (you will be asked to show examples)
  • Strong artistic talents
  • Stamina to work on your feet for long periods of time
  • Color vision, and the ability to create visually appealing designs and hues when mixing icings and creating designs
  • Experience with airbrush guns, modeling tools and mixers is preferred

    The Waterview is an upscale banquet facility located in Fairfield County, CT with an award-winning reputation for excellence and elegance. The venue hosts almost 300 events annually, the majority of which are weddings.

    We are looking for a creative and motivated Banquet/Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The Banquet Chef plays a critical role in the production and presentation of food served at all of our events. We typically host two large banquet events at the same time, and cater for groups of 100 to 1,000.

    Hours

    This is a full-time (32-40 hours per week) seasonal, hourly position that requires you to be onsite at The Waterview Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Our high season runs from April – December.

    Requirements

    • Degree in Culinary Arts or culinary certificate and five to ten years of culinary experience.
    • Experience with food production for large catering or banquet functions
    • Batch cooking and high volume cooking experience required
    • Minimum of five years of culinary/kitchen management experience
    • Strong knife skills
    • Knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
    • ServSafe Certified

    Position Details

    • Successful culinary production operation under the direction of the Executive Chef.
    • Analyze Banquet Event Orders to plan and coordinate the food and beverage portion of client functions.
    • Opportunity to serve as the department head for culinary operations in the absences of Executive Chef.
    • Adhere to HACCP guidelines to ensure efficient, safe and sanitary food production, preparation and presentation.
    • Opportunity to assist in menu development, inventory, ordering/purchasing, food cost controls, training, sanitation, and personnel management to include hiring, firing, counseling, coaching and developing staff.
